The battle rages on in my head: the angelic me on a soapbox of fluffy white clouds, extolling the virtues of well made Merlot. Some devilish guy named Miles whispers in my ear, "well Jon…so now you’re the self-proclaimed champion of the underdog Merlot – how sweet, how…pathetic!" Heavenly strains of "If lovin' you is wrong I don’t wanna be right" mix with aromas of warm cinnamon spice and cherry – a kind of sweet, dark berry compote on high; virtuous tannins are soft and round, but of course, cleansing; an attractive nuance of oak creates a sense of aromatic awe.
